Elliot Vance was born in the Bronx, New York in 1950, but grew up with his family, on Long Island. He finally moved to New York City in the mid 1970's and still lives there today. He spent much of his childhood working in his family's outer wear business, until the early 1990's, when he went full time into the business as it's designer. In the summer of 1999, when the business season had quieted down, Mr. Vance began teaching himself how to draw, then paint, using his computer, considering that he was computer savvy and spent many hours a day doing various work on it. He began to explore the world of art, using a painting program that came with his computer, eventually buying a computer pen and tablet, which acts as his paintbrush and the screen as his canvas. He prints them in various sizes, using actual canvas and special inks that last from 250 to 350 years.
He is a member of the Graphic Artists Guild and has shown some of his works at the Jacob Javitts Center in New York many times as well as The Art Director's Club of New York. He also donated 20 of his handbags to celebrities at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, Aids Research Alliance, as well as The Equus Foundation that seeks to raise public awareness of the value of the horse in society through education and the award of grants to charities that use the horse to benefit the public, promote the health and welfare of horses, and elevate the equestrian sport as a whole. He also has been written about in Forbes magazine, in NBC News online, Channel 10 News, Elle Magazine, Fashion Gossip Weekly and many other news and fashion publications.
